Kent 16+ Travel Card
The KCC 16+ Travel Saver is available to students aged 16-19, living in Kent and in Full-Time education. It offers the same benefits as the current Kent 16+ Travel Card enabling parents the opportunity to halve the costs of bus travel rather than buying a ticket direct from operators.
The schemes represent a subsidy from KCC to parents of around £10m each year and means that KCC continues to support parents with the costs of bus travel more than other Council in the UK outside of London. A feature of the new scheme is the ability for parents to pay for the pass through a series of instalments, spreading the cost across 8 months.
The pass costs £400** and offers unlimited bus travel at all times of the day, 7 days per week for the whole academic year.
**please note a £10 administration fee applies to these applications paying by instalment.
Applications are currently suspended for 2020/2021.
You will need to pay KCC directly for your 16+ travel card at the time of application, unless you have made a bursary application, in which case Knole Academy will make the payment on your behalf.
Apply or renew online
You need to make payment by debit or credit card (directly to KCC) in order to complete a 16+ online application.
Before you apply or renew you will need:
- the name of your school, college or learning provider
- a passport style photo in JPEG format and no more than 40kb in size.
An application form can be downloaded by clicking here
Financial Assistance
Students can apply for a bursary which will cover the cost of the travel card.
If your bursary application is successful, Knole Academy will make the £400 payment to KCC on your behalf.
