Minstrels Normandy Trip 2017
Minstrels ( the school choir) have just returned from France after a very successful choral tour. There were fine choral performances and some super solos and duets, including a lovely rendition in French of Plaisir d' Amour by George and the Pergolesi Stabat Mater by Megan and Emilia.
Students had the opportunity to practise their French and they all made huge efforts to do this. The hotel staff said they were the best group they had ever had in the hotel.
As well as singing to a packed hall of students in Bayeux, participating in a mass and giving a concert in a church, students had the opportunity to visit the Bayeux tapestry, Bayeux town, Omaha and Arromanches Beaches and to understand about the D Day landings and the Norman Conquest.
We had a magical trip to Le Mont Saint Michel, where we made the crossing by horse driven carriage and explored the ramparts and old town. We then walked back over the causeway and saw some of the wildlife up close, as well as getting a bit of exercise.
Our return travel included a stop off at Honfleur, the picturesque medieval port favoured by so many artists.
We all had a great time and look forward to our next trip away.
