Exploring Year 9 Options: GCSE Courses of Study

Welcome to Knole Academy’s Year 9 Virtual Progression event. This section should be used to support students in making their KS4 option choices.

This section will be beneficial for Year 9 students to choose the relevant subjects best suited to their strengths and interests so they can fulfil their potential and aspirations for their exciting future ahead. The journey will begin in year 9 and will take students up to year 11 before Post-16 options and beyond.

At Knole Academy, we are fortunate to have excellent, subject-specific teachers. We are able to provide students with a wide curriculum choice in addition to the core subjects.

Core Subjects

Maths, English and Science are the core subjects students must take at GCSE.

Core PE is also compulsory and aims to develop a range of practical and social skills as well as encourage students to be more aware of health-related activities as they contemplate an active lifestyle. This is not assessed but is a core programme.
